Parsing Social Networks

As you need to collect data from social networks you should either use their API provided or parse html pages from their website.

Of course, the first method is more reliable and sounds more legit than the second one but, in some cases, it is not so possible or suitable for your project. For example, TikTok has very limited Research API, and has no dates when it will be launched. Also, many social networks has hard moderation if you want to get data using their API, you might not want to pass it for a small project. /* In the past few year social networks became little bit paranoid about the access to their data but still providing full access for manual collection*/

And here we go, scraping is the way!

In most cases if you need to collect up to 1000 pages there is no big problem with doing it on free proxies and local machine. But if your pages number is significantly more, you’re highly likely end up with renting a dedicated server and testing different proxy providers until you find the one who fits your needs and pay to them monthly even if you don’t use it. Cheap proxy providers with high probability have banned IP addresses, and you won’t be able to get any information with them.

Isn’t it too much fuss to get a bunch of data? We’ve being doing this work for 10 years, for another project, it is almost invisible to the end user but needs regular maintenance.
